Barn Swallow in Wilpaththu, Sri Lanka
This is the first time I have ever photographed any swallow. They arrive as migrants in my home country the Netherlands during the summer (in fact, they are seen as an indicator of the start of summer), yet are often far away or flying at enormous speeds. I'm glad to finally have found a relaxed one at a reasonable distance.

The barn swallow is the most widespread species of swallow in the world. It is a distinctive passerine bird with blue upperparts, a long, deeply forked tail and curved, pointed wings. It is found in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas.
