Snack Time
A young white-tailed buck sniffs around a low-hanging pine branch for some tasty treats. In the end, he decided he wasn't hungry enough to eat a pine cone and wandered off. The deer rut is slowing down here and the bucks are starting to become a bit more reclusive and are spending more time feeding than chasing does. Captured on the Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge, north Idaho.

The white-tailed deer, also known commonly as the whitetail and the Virginia deer, is a medium-sized species of deer native to North America, Central America, and South America as far south as Peru and Bolivia, where it predominately inhabits high mountain terrains of the Andes.
