White fluted mushrooms

These resemble pinwheel mushrooms, but are much, much larger. I haven't found a good match yet. Maybe Mycena Alba?

  1. I created an entry for the species Marasmiellus candidus as requested, but are you sure it is the right one? Do you have a photo of the gills? That's how this fungus is presented most often.

    1. I can see if I have a better view of the gills, but I'm pretty darn sure about this one. There are no real lookalikes listed. Pinwheel mushrooms are much, much smaller. Posted 10 years ago
      1. There is at least 1 similar species in the same genus.

        1. From the distribution maps, that one appears to only be a European species, but candidus is found here in the northwest United States. Ramealis also appears to be smaller than the mushrooms I observed. Most of the mature caps in the photo were over 1cm. Posted 10 years ago, modified 10 years ago

Marasmiellus candidus is easy to recognize by its small size, lignicolous habitat, widely spaced gills, and white color often staining pinkish.
