      1. Are you sure that this is not a Western Green Lizard (Lacerta bilineata)? These were regarded as a single species divided into separate sub-species. Genetic work suggested that they were, in fact separate species. Posted 11 years ago, modified 11 years ago
        1. According data from mtDNA samples Lacerta binileata is not recorded in Greece. It is distributed in Western Europe and Italy.

The European green lizard, ''Lacerta viridis'', is a large lizard distributed across European midlatitudes from Slovenia and eastern Austria to as far east as the Black Sea coasts of Ukraine and Turkey. It is often seen sunning on rocks or lawns, or sheltering amongst bushes.
