African emerald cuckoo

I have been hearing this lovely call over the past few days but never found the source. This evening I finally saw it and it blew me away, what a colour! Its a shame I could not get a photo of the front which is bright yellow. Lets hope it returns again for more photos. This is a summer migrant to these parts of South Africa.

    I agree, and think I got there before you!
    Very lucky where I live, not so much of a garden but more of a far reaching forest full of wonderful things, most of which unfortunately would like to kill you or at least maim!! But the little patch outside my front door is where all the lovely bird, insects and spiders are found. Bliss Posted 10 years ago
