20 Spotted Ladybug I found these guys and their nymphs while looking for spiders in a dahlia garden. Apparently unlike other ladybugs they do not eat other insects, but prefer mildew, which makes complete sense as the plants were fairly heavily coated with powdery mildew. 20 Spotted Ladybug

I found these guys and their nymphs while looking for spiders in a dahlia garden. Apparently unlike other ladybugs they do not eat other insects, but prefer mildew, which makes complete sense as the plants were fairly heavily coated with powdery mildew.

Small (2-3mm), yellowish species from the family Coccinellidae. Unlike most lady beetles, which are carnivores, Psyllobora species are mildew-feeders, and have mandibles armed with rake-like rows of small teeth used in gathering up spores and conidia.
