
Meadow grasshopper in habitat, Netherlands
Besides the macro aspirations of magnifying tiny things to the max, increasingly I'm also trying to show their habitat, by taking a step back. So here's the very abundant Lesser marsh grasshopper in a habitat of very abundant common heather plants (in pink). This photo has a lot of detail, so you're invited to go full screen.
Closeup:

"Pseudochorthippus parallelus", the "meadow grasshopper", is a common species of grasshopper found in non-arid grasslands throughout the well vegetated areas of Europe and some adjoining areas of Asia.
