Eastern Tiger Swallowtail Caterpillar My strolls around the yard have become scare these days since school has started and life has once again gotten busy.. I am missing my time behind the lens! I did see this guy tonight though and had to make time to capture him in a picture, I am really hoping he stays put for the whole metamorphosis. 1. These caterpillars have very interesting defense system - the first 3 instars are mimicking birds droppings, the later instars are mimicking snakes. Added to my list "Mimicry - a way to survive" Posted 10 years ago, modified 10 years ago
  2. What a great little tidbit, isn't nature amazing! Posted 10 years ago
