Hidlumane Waterfalls - is a beautiful waterfall near Nitturu, Hosanagara Taluk, Shimoga. It is at the base of Kodachadri hill, around 10 kms from Nitturu. Being a part of Western Ghats, Karnataka, it truly is a feast for eyes, and it is a fulfilling experience to stand under its falling water which is ice cold, as it flows all the way from the mountain ranges beneath.
Some people know about this waterfall because it lies directly in the trek path to the Kodachadri hill, and is definitely a welcome refreshment for trekkers, as what lies ahead of this point is the sweat draining, energy burning continuation of the trek for another hour and a half (at least) before reaching the destination / summit. One needs to be in a good shape in order to attempt a trek to Kodachadri hill, or they might feel the lack of expressions for the pain every single step uphill inflicts, especially during summer. Not to mention the place turning in to Leech infested hell in the rainy and winter seasons!
For those people who do not want to trek, but simply want to pay a visit to the temple atop the summit of Kodachadri, there may hire a private 4x4 vehicle (Jeep) available at the village at the foothill. Make sure your pockets are big to afford a journey (to and fro) by one of those vehicles.
All in all, it is an adventurous place to trek, and it will be a memory you won't regret recalling every once in a while, provided all goes well.
