Map (butterfly), Netherlands
This butterfly is named after the network of lines on the bottom of its wings. Another notable feature is that it has 2 distinct looks: a spring look, and a summer look. During spring, It is largely black and orange, whilst in the summer (illustrated here), there's less orange and more yellow and whites. These looks are so different that originally both looks were described as separate species.

The Map is a butterfly of the Nymphalidae family. It is common throughout the lowlands of central and eastern Europe, and is expanding its range in western Europe.
