Nope, definitely not mine Thigh Bone (Femur) - is the longest bone in our body, but the bone we see in the the picture above is the femur that belonged to a dead Gaur in the Mudumalai forest, Tamil Nadu.<br />

This was the only piece of puzzle that was just lying there, and I could not find the rest of the skeleton. Can&#039;t really expect more in a Carnivore territory. Bos gaurus,Gaur,Geotagged,India, dead, femur, forest, gaur, hunted, jungle, mudumalai, prey, skeleton, thigh bone, wild Click/tap to enlarge

    1. Yeah, and Heavy! Since Tigers, Leopards, Dholes, and Hyenas, all share a common territory, I'm guessing each animal got its share. Posted 10 years ago, modified 10 years ago
      1. Hyenas in India? Posted 10 years ago
        1. Yes, India is home to Hyenas also. They are rare, but they are there! In Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary, there is "Sigur" plateau, where Hyenas have been spotted several times. They are hardly visible to humans, but couldn't escape the Camera Traps!

The gaur, also called Indian bison, is the largest extant bovine and is native to South Asia and Southeast Asia. The species is listed as vulnerable on the IUCN Red List since 1986, as the population decline in parts of the species' range is likely to be well over 70% during the last three generations.
