Extreme closeup of European Garden Spider
A cropped macro of the abdomen of a female European Garden Spider, this one being unusually large. In dutch it is called a "cross spider" referring to the pattern on the abdomen. The translation of the latin word "Araneus" is crown. Contrary to most other spiders, this one is not shy. It often sits in the middle of its web, head down, in normal day light.
