A funnel web spider is awaiting outside its funnel for activity, be it food or mating. If they come out, they'll often don't go further than this. They are challenging to photograph since touching a thread of their enormous web immediately will send it back into the funnel.

  1. Had the same problem photographing these, they are so quick back down that funnel. Wondering if I should try a long lens.

"Agelena labyrinthica" is a species of spider in the family Agelenidae. It is a widespread species in Europe.
