It will only take a minute, my love Golden orb-web Spider (Nephila Pilipes) - One of the biggest Spiders in the world. I spotted this Spider on the way to Mandalpatty, Corrg. This is was the first time ever I witnessed such a giant spider, and it was quite scary to witness it just hanging down from a tree. Luckily, I got to capture both, Male and Female spiders in one picture!

Females can grow to a body size of up to 7 cm overall, but their male counterpart grow to a body size of merely 5 mm overall. Species from Taiwan have been known to reach over 5 in (130 mm = 13 cm), legspan included, in mountainous country. 2. Another beautifully timed photo, wonderful to see the male right on top of her. I can never quite get my head around the size difference in these spiders and your size description frightened the hell out of me ...20cm??
Even Wiki's description of up to 5cm in body length is still pretty scary.
Quite beautiful, one of my favourite types of spider, great shot.

    1. Thanks, Claire! I too love this shot :)

Sorry about the small discrepancy in the description (still confused as to where I got that info. from). Almost 7 cm is the largest specimen ever recorded in females, as per Wiki. Species from Taiwan have been known to reach over 5 in (130 mm = 13 cm), legspan included, in mountainous country.
