Hump-nosed pit viper (family - Hypnale Hypnale) - Spotted this juvenile Viper during the trek in the wilderness of Gerusoppa, Shimoga (Western Ghats) a few years ago.

    1. Yeah, they are hard to spot and dangerous. A group of friends (incl. me) realized how much risk we had put ourselves in to, by under-estimating the dangers in the trek area before hand. It was worth it in the end! Posted 11 years ago
      1. Oh I know what you mean! So many times I will be walking in the woods or in long grass and suddenly think...hmm...snakes, leopards, wild boar etc. oops! The things we do to spot and photograph wildlife!! Posted 11 years ago

"Hypnale hypnale" is a venomous pitviper species endemic to India and Sri Lanka. No subspecies are currently recognized.
