Northern Feather Duster worm
Another bizarre sea creature from the Puget Sound. These guys are marine worms that can be found in intertidal zones and especially like floating docks (like the spot where these were found). Though they look much like a flower, they are indeed an animal. These tube worms live in a pretty nice habitat, but they have relatives who live everywhere in the ocean, from tidal zones, to the cold, dark abyssal plain to super heated hydrothermal vents.

Eudistylia is a genus of marine polychaete worms. The type species is Eudistylia gigantea, now accepted as Eudistylia vancouveri. This worm lives in a parchment-like tube with a single opening from which a crown of tentacles projects when the worm is submerged. It is a sessile filter feeder.
