  1. I've actually identified this as an Eastern Swallowtail using the Audubon app on my phone. No entry exists in Wikipedia, so I've requested that one be created! Posted 11 years ago
    1. hi Deb. It does exist in Wikipedia, but using a slightly different common name: Eastern tiger swallowtail

      That's why it usually is most reliable to identify species by their biological name. Common names have several varieties across different languages.

      1. Thanks for the help! Unfortunately, the Audubon app isn't very accurate, surprisingly. I actually switched my bird app from Audubon to the one provided by Cornell Ornithology Labs. They do not make a butterfly app or I'd switch that one as well! Posted 11 years ago

The Eastern Tiger Swallowtail is a species of swallowtail butterfly native to North America. It is one of the most familiar butterflies in the eastern United States, where it is common in many different habitats. It flies from spring to fall, during which it produces two to three broods.
