  1. Looks great! What new lens you got? Posted 11 years ago
    1. I traded in my old Nikon 80-200 for a Fuji 55-200. Doesn't gain me any more distance, but it's way smaller and lighter and I don't need an adapter to use it with the XE-1. Putting the Nikon lens on that poor little camera was like mounting a howitzer on a Fiat. Plus now I get my autofocus back. The X line is a little new, so the lens selection isn't huge yet - nothing longer than the 200. I think there's a tele scheduled for release next year. There are tons of adapters, so I could get a different brand, but I can't stand still long enough to be a very effective birder, so I'm in no hurry :p. Posted 11 years ago, modified 11 years ago

The glaucous-winged gull is a large, white-headed gull. The genus name is from Latin "Larus" which appears to have referred to a gull or other large seabird. The specific "glaucescens" is New Latin for "glaucous" from the Ancient Greek, "glaukos", denoting the grey color of its wings.
