Species helping one another
This male kudu - a beautiful creature with handsome set of antlers - is nibbling on some sort of cone, while two red-billed oxpeckers nibble on either side of his face. Mutually satisfying arrangement: they get a meal and he gets rid of annoying ticks!
The Greater Kudu is a woodland antelope found throughout eastern and southern Africa. Despite occupying such widespread territory, they are sparsely populated in most areas, due to a declining habitat, deforestation and hunting.
