Flower Spider Dangling My husband has great eyes and spotted this little fellow before he scooted up the tree, I did crop the picture to bring out his gorgeous detail . Not sure why the site is saying this was captured in 1970?, I took the picture on August the 26th 2014, same spider same day as in the other photo. Photo taken with my Cannon Rebel T3. "Misumena vatia" is a species of crab spider with holarctic distribution. In North America, where it is the largest and best-known flower spider, it is called the goldenrod crab spider or flower spider, because it is commonly found hunting in goldenrod sprays in the autumn.
