The city of Agrigento was called until 1929 Girgenti and its the breed is named. The origin of the breed is unknown. A striking feature of the animals constitute the horns, which are - in contrast to most other varieties goats - tightened, and the trestle in a length of 80 cm can be achieved. This has led to suspicions that the Girgentana-breed descended from the Central Asian screw horn goat (Capra falconeri). The Domestic sheep

Sheep are quadrupedal, ruminant mammals typically kept as livestock. Like all ruminants, sheep are members of the order Artiodactyla, the even-toed ungulates. Although the name "sheep" applies to many species in the genus ''Ovis'', in everyday usage it almost always refers to ''Ovis aries''.
