  1. Cicada exuviae - clinging on a tree after emerging of the molt. They can be seen on all types of trees, shrubs, fences. I would like very much to witness and record the moulting of adults, but I was on the spot a bit late. Unlike many other insects, all of the periodical cicadas in an area emerge at once. ''Cicadetta montana'' is a species of ''Cicadetta'' found throughout Europe and in parts of Asia.

It is regarded as endangered over large parts of Europe, and has vanished from several areas in Western Europe.
It is the only cicada species native to England and Finland .

The adult females inject their eggs into the stems of food plants, and when the larvae emerge, they burrow underground and as nymphs feed on root sap. These underground cycles may last many years, differing.. more
