  1. Jacaranda is the tree that typifies Pretoria, the displays there are quite spectacular... I just never seem to be there at the right time of year!!! Posted 11 years ago
    1. ...I was surprised to see these beautiful trees doing brilliantly in the lowveld. This shot is mis-dated but it was taken in September...much earlier than the Pretoria blooms, which as I recall were more in November. Posted 11 years ago, modified 11 years ago

"Jacaranda mimosifolia" is a sub-tropical tree native to south-central South America that has been widely planted elsewhere because of its beautiful and long-lasting blue flowers. It is also known as Jacaranda, Blue Jacaranda, Black Poui, or as the fern tree.
