The Grey-headed flying fox This picture was taken in Queensland, Australia. One of our tour guides stopped and pointed up and there was a tree full of these (I believe called fox bats?). These bats were all asleep, wrapped tightly with their wings like a comfortable blanket. I was quite impressed with how big they are! The grey-headed flying fox is a megabat native to Australia. The species shares the continent with three other members of the genus "Pteropus": the little red flying fox, the spectacled flying fox, "P. conspicillatus", and the black flying fox, "P. alecto".
