Lazy fox at Amsterdamse Waterleiding Duinen I came to this park, a 90 minute drive, especially for the foxes. For a few years already I have seen spectacular photos of them from fellow JungleDragon members (notably Wendy and Roeselien). These foxes are "famous" in the dutch photography community, so this year I finally made an attempt to see them myself.

After a full morning walk in the park, I still had not seen them. As it was my first visit, I did not know my way around, yet I kept searching and asking people if they had seen them. I took a 2nd walk in the afternoon despite my feet killing me (not wearing the right shoes). I came across a lady with a huge tele lens and asked her if she had seen them. She did, but it was another 3 miles ahead. I cringed, because that meant that after those 3 miles, I had several more afterwards to return to my car. I decided to push on.

Ultimately, far away I could see a small group of people. This must be the spotting place. As I came near them, I noticed them all watching in the same direction. So as I continued walking, I watched whatever they were watching, hoping that they were looking at a fox.

And here it comes, as I was looking to the right whilst walking, I almost stepped on this fox, who was inches away to my left, laying on the ground. I was shocked. The fox wasn't. Amsterdamse Waterleiding Duinen,Europe,Netherlands,Red Fox,Vulpes vulpes Click/tap to enlarge

Very funny to see. My first photo was exactly the same.
At first I thought that someone has forgotten its jacket.
But when I came closer I noticed it was a lazy fox :)

The red fox is the largest of the true foxes, as well as being the most geographically spread member of the Carnivora, being distributed across the entire northern hemisphere from the Arctic Circle to North Africa, Central America and the steppes of Asia.
