Checkered Periwinkle There's a little black snail inside that checked shell, but he's quite shy and wouldn't show much at all. These were rather abundant, although many of the shells were no longer inhabited by periwinkles at all, but rather the adopted home of a legion of tiny little hermit crabs. 1. You're introducing so many new species, you may be close to the hardest medal to earn:

  2. I am working my hardest :) and really focusing on bringing things in that aren't already represented. I think that perhaps that I am also fortunate that there don't seem to be too many of us Pacific Northwesters here and that we have a lot of somewhat unique plants and animals in the area - heck even our seemingly common deer turned out to be a unique subspecies. I have been surprised at times about some things. I expected that sea otters would already be here, since they are cute, cuddly and raised at a lot of zoos. Posted 11 years ago
    1. You may be surprised to know that less than a year ago, USA was severely underrepresented, showing an almost empty map. Now, even with a handful of active users from there, the map is nicely filling up.

As for species introductions, yes that sea otter surprised me as well, but then again, the site knows 4,000 species...out of....2 million.
