  1. What a fabulous spotting, and very well captured. It's razor sharp, I'm sure you can do much more handheld shots, particularly if the light is good enough for 1/2000s. I believe the general rule is 1/focal length is roughly what you can still do by hand, which means 1/600s for you. If you have built-in stabilizer, you can shoot even "slower". Posted 11 years ago
    1. Thanks Ferdy! It was very lucky I had the camera in the car with me. Yes it does have a stabiliser but oh boy it is heavy! Using it on the 70D to try and minimise weight, no doubt though after a bit of practice I should be able to use it hand held..need more practice! All in all though, very pleased with this lens! 1. Results so far are awesome, and if I hear you, they'll get even better. Not sure if it works for you, but some people place the elbow of their lens-supporting arm into their hip or just above it, creating a human tripod. For carrying, a special strap for heavy lenses will help as well. Posted 11 years ago

The Long-crested Eagle is a bird of prey. Like all eagles, it is in the family Accipitridae. It is currently placed in a monotypic genus "Lophaetus". A relatively small eagle, found in Africa south of the Sahara, except in the arid zones. In southern Africa it is a fairly common resident in the eastern areas.
