    1. I think this is a black form of the eastern tiger swallowtail (Papilio glaucus). Do you see the black stripe in the middle of the hind wings? It also has one row of white spots on the fore wings. Posted 11 years ago
      1. I believe that you are correct and I really thank you for your input. I had looked at the black eastern tigers and they seemed to have a lot more blue at the rear, so I ruled that out. But I do see that a big difference (which I missed) is the white spots on the fore wings of the Eastern Tiger versus the yellow ones on the Black Swallowtail. And yes, I do see the black stripe too. The Eastern Tiger Swallowtail is a species of swallowtail butterfly native to North America. It is one of the most familiar butterflies in the eastern United States, where it is common in many different habitats. It flies from spring to fall, during which it produces two to three broods.
