  1. That's very interesting, captured in 1995 means it is probably one of the oldest photos on the site. Ironically, the grainy effect is nowadays sometimes intentionally applied, to make it "hip". This one is the real deal though :) Posted 11 years ago
    1. Actually the original is a bit faded so after I scanned it I tried to sharpen it up but WOW did that make it grainy. So I just played with the contrast a little and that fixed it a little. Posted 11 years ago

The lion is one of the five big cats in the genus "Panthera" and a member of the family Felidae. The commonly used term African lion collectively denotes the several subspecies found in Africa. With some males exceeding 250 kg in weight, it is the second-largest living cat after the tiger.
