  1. That's awesome. Is this really a youngster first exiting the nest? Posted 11 years ago
    1. I had nesting hawks last summer in my backyard...4 eggs all together...they finally hatched and it was a sight to see when these guys finally ventured from the nest! It was like a playpen in my backyard...little guys flying from tree to tree...screeching back and forth to each other...downy feathers floating everywhere...it was amazing! And a baby hawk is called an eyass... Posted 11 years ago
      1. That sounds awesome. Did you record any of it? Posted 11 years ago

Cooper's hawk is a medium-sized hawk native to the North American continent and found from southern Canada to Mexico. This species is a member of the genus "Accipiter", sometimes referred to as true hawks, which are famously agile, relatively small hawks common to wooded habitats around the world and also the most diverse of all diurnal raptor genera.
