  2. I was just reading the other day that in addition to size (river otters are smaller), it's possible to tell sea otters apart from river otters as sea otters swim primarily on their backs, while river otters swim face down. Posted 11 years ago

The sea otter is a marine mammal native to the coasts of the northern and eastern North Pacific Ocean. Adult sea otters typically weigh between 14 and 45 kg, making them the heaviest members of the weasel family, but among the smallest marine mammals.
