
The African wattled lapwing or Senegal wattled plover is a large lapwing, a group of largish waders in the family Charadriidae. It is a resident breeder in most of sub-Saharan Africa outside the rainforests, although it has seasonal movements.

Regarding the date issue, the exif of the image had the value " : : : : " for the capture date. I'm not sure if this was in the image file itself or JungleDragon failed to read it correctly. Either way, I cleared the capture date for now.
For the technically interested, most computer "date" fields start counting at jan 1, 1970, the so-called "Unix epoch". A date basically is stored as the amount of milliseconds since that moment in time :) Posted 8 years ago
