To all Dragons I captured this photo this year (2014) in a butterfly park in the Netherlands, yet it strongly triggers a flashback. It was in 2007, on my first wildlife trip ever, in Costa Rica, that the idea for JungleDragon was born. It took several years to bring it into existence, yet this creature symbolizes the start, and is the inspiration for it all, including the name of the site and parts of the design.

Above all I wanted to build a beautiful place where people can exchange the beauty of wildlife, in rich and meaningful ways. Not just a photo experience, also an educational experience. I aim to transform all of you from nature photographers into amateur zoologist photographers. Species collectors, knowledgeable of what they capture. Explorers, actively looking to discover, learn and share. The story of JungleDragon does not occur the moment you press the shutter button, it happens before and after it as well.

And everyone is invited. This site and its entire mission is only made possibly by the community who truly drives it. We are small, and a little weird, but we're independent. We're free, and we're ad-free. We don't take your money nor do we collect your data. We just love nature and sharing it in rich ways, free of clutter.

If you can find yourself in that mission, then I welcome you (once again) to your online habitat, to the site that is truly built on the love of nature, and nothing else. I am proud that you're part of it, dragon.

Let's end with the dragon's stare:
