    1. I agree Wendy......this is quite a beautiful thing to behold! You can't imagine how thrilled I was to have it visit my yard! Also the fact that it posed for me long enough to get this fabulous picture! I get so used to seeing butterflies in my garden that sadly, I think I start taking them for granted. Then, within a span of about 2 or 3 weeks, this lovely moth came, then a Luna moth, and last, but certainly not least, a Garden Tiger moth came to feast on my beautiful flowers! Now, even more so than before, I am constantly on the look out for any newcomers in the garden. Posted 11 years ago

The polyphemus moth is a North American member of the family Saturniidae, the giant silk moths. It is a tan-colored moth, with an average wingspan of 15 cm.
