The Gerenoek - Litocranius walleri
This beauty bears the name gerenuk. One of the most beautiful gazelle species I have ever seen. The small head and huge ears give them een funny look. The nice thing about this species is that they can stand upright the hind legs.

The gerenuk /ˈɡɛrəˌnʊk, ɡəˈrɛnək/, also known as the giraffe gazelle, is a long-necked antelope found in the Horn of Africa and the drier parts of East Africa. The sole member of the genus ''Litocranius'', the gerenuk was first described by the naturalist Victor Brooke in 1878. It is characterised by its long, slender neck and limbs.

You've ended up 2nd place initially, however the winner has declined the prize, and asked us to spent it as we want. I think the most fair thing to do is to award you the prize, as the 2 of you really were on the same level, it was an impossible choice to make.
Therefore, congratulations, this is the winning photo for the July 2014 contest!
Can you ping me a private message to discuss details on how to award you the prize money? Posted 11 years ago
