Caterpillar of Yellow-edged Giant Owl
This is the caterpillar of the Yellow-edged Giant Owl butterfly. As large as the butterfly is, as huge as the caterpillar is, for sure the largest I have ever seen. In this shot you can see how it processed the left side of the leaf almost entirely, and also how it is leaving "waste" in the leaf's edge.

The Yellow-edged Giant Owl (Caligo atreus) is a butterfly of the Nymphalidae family. The species can be found from Mexico to Peru. The wingspan is 140–160 mm. The larvae feed on Musa and Heliconia species and can be a pest for banana cultivation. Adults feed on juices of rotting fruit.
