Although it is relatively dull-colored, this butterfly has one of most complicated patterns I have yet seen. It seems to contain almost everything: horizontal stripes, vertical stripes, eyes, tiger, panther, you name it, it has it :)
If that isn't complicated enough, the upper side of its wings are yet totally different:

The Yellow-edged Giant Owl (Caligo atreus) is a butterfly of the Nymphalidae family. The species can be found from Mexico to Peru. The wingspan is 140–160 mm. The larvae feed on Musa and Heliconia species and can be a pest for banana cultivation. Adults feed on juices of rotting fruit.
