Triple Take These macaws were so beautiful I just couldn't take my eyes off of them. I was at the Catoctin Zoo for the very first time and I loved the whole atmosphere of all the different kinds of animals around. I love animals that show expression and I thought that this photo was a great way to showcase the macaws personalities and beautiful color. Ara macao,Scarlet Macaw,Zoo Click/tap to enlarge

  1. The one in the middle is a Scarlet macaw and the other two are Catalina Macaws, a hybrid cross between a Scarlet and a Blue and Gold. I have identified this as the Scarlet as, being a hybrid, there is no wiki page for the Catalina although they are recognised as a species in the pet bird trade where they are quite popular. 2. I think the one on the left is a scarlet macaw (Ara macao) and in the middle a red-and-green macaw (Ara chloropterus). The third one is the Catalina macaw. Posted 11 years ago, modified 11 years ago
