
Chinavia hilare
Found this one crawling up my neighbors house.
This is Chinavia hilare, a common agricultural pest in North America. It looks somewhat like a Southern Green Stink Bug (Nezara viridula), but it's not - one easy character (if small) is that Nezara has little black spots in the basal corners of the scutellum and Chinavia has not. Also Chinavia hilare has much more pronounced black spots in the connexivium.

This is some Chinavia sp. - not Nezara. I removed the ID and changes the tags.
Adding a locaion/geotag may very well help someone in identifying to species level. I'm not familiar enough with the Nearctic Pentatomidae to hazard a guess with just the one photo. Posted 8 years ago
