    1. Unfortunately you have indicated that there is no species in this photo and I cannot update the identity. I don't know if this can be changed. If it can then you can identify it as Indian Blackbird (Turdus simillimus) which is already on Wiki. Posted 11 years ago
      1. Fixed. @Rakesh: you should not request the creation of a new species when it is already on the site. Posted 11 years ago
        1. I don't think it was intentional, rather a spelling error ie. Black bird instead of Blackbird.

          1. That explains it, sorry! Posted 11 years ago
  2. Sorry for this, I have joined today only and playing with this site to know its working. I have removed this species intro and tagged as Turdus simillimus still it is showing the same. Posted 11 years ago, modified 11 years ago
    1. You should be carefull when playing with the species identification and only identify species when you are sure it is correct. I see that you have identified some of the older photos, but some of them cannot be identified because there are a few similar species and the characters that make the difference between them cannot be seen on the photo. Sometimes it depends on the location and we don't know it.
Species intro means this is the first photo of the species uploaded to the site. One of the most valuable and recognized actions within JungleDragon is to introduce a new species to the site. The pioneer medal is awarded for every 50 species introduced.

The Indian blackbird is a member of the thrush family Turdidae. It was formerly considered a subspecies of the common blackbird. It is found in India and Sri Lanka. The subspecies from most of the Indian subcontinent, ''simillimus'', ''nigropileus'', ''bourdilloni'', ''spencei'', and ''kinnissi'', are small, only 19–20 centimetres long, and have broad eye-rings. They also differ in proportions, wing formula, egg colour and voice from the common blackbird.
