  1. This photo was taken on June 13, 2014, in the Chihuahuan Desert near Sanderson, Tx.
    He is the eastern collared lizard...We were driving through a canyon and I spotted him on the cactus.
    As soon as I took the photo he jumped off and ran away.

The eastern collared lizard, also called common collared lizard, Oklahoma collared lizard or collared lizard, is a North American lizard that can reach a foot in length, with a large head and powerful jaws.
