Hiding in plain sight This is a really exiting photo to me, as this is my very first sighting of an actual wild Sri Lankan leopard. Obscured by the leaves and at the very far end of my telezoom lens this was the best shot I could make at the time. The Sri Lankan Leopard is a leopard subspecies native to Sri Lanka. Classified as "Endangered" by IUCN, the population is believed to be declining due to numerous threats including poaching for trade and human-leopard conflicts. This subspecies is colloquially known as Kotiya in Sinhala and Siruththai in Tamil.
