  1. Such a beautifully shaped creature, I didn't think this was a kind of raccoon....
I like your info that comes with it, they sound just as opportunistic as foxes are.....

    1. From your photos foxes seem very approachable which was new to me. Indeed coatis can be quite urbanized and even beg for food. There is food though, such as sugar cookies, that they can't stand so humans feeding them is not always good idea. They can eat a tarantula yet not a cookie :)

Here's one scooping around a garden in Costa Rica:

      I love their tails.

      1. I think feeding wild animals maybe isn't such a good idea in general. ;) (unless they really need it)
They look so nice.....must have been such fun to see them in the wild!

The white-nosed coati is a species of coati and a member of the family Procyonidae. Local names include Pizote, Antoon and Tejón. The last, which mainly is used in Mexico, means badger. It averages about 4–6 kg in weight. However, males are much larger than females, and small females weigh as little as 2.5 kg and large males as much as 12.2 kg. On average, the total length is about 110 cm, about half of that being the tail length.
