  1. A telling portrait and a great species intro, Bas, glad you're joining the contest. I'll watch you closely given our planned trip to Sri Lanka later this year. Posted 11 years ago
  2. Hi Bas, Ilove hawk photo's, they tend to radiate melancholy in a way. I thought it was the same bird that happily escaped, but it is a slightly smaller species of hawk: (and actually orange in accents)
    Cry Freedom "<br />
I just expect to be treated like you expect to be treated. <br />
Come on, what are you so afraid of? <br />
Once you try you see there's nothing to fear.<br />

A sad cry for freedom, though taken care of with love, still enslaved for life. That's the truth of the dutch jungles, yet our money also preserves species, forests, life. A positive circle, perhaps balancing the other one. Besides that seeing this makes me so glad I am a paying member of a number of animal (and human) aid instances. Maybe not to save this beautiful one, yet save many others. Bateleur,Geotagged,Terathopius ecaudatus,The Netherlands

The Crested Serpent Eagle is a medium-sized bird of prey that is found in forested habitats across tropical Asia. They fly over the forest canopy on broad wings and tail have wide white and black bars. They call often with a loud, piercing and familiar three or two-note call. They often feed on snakes, giving them their name and are placed along with the "Circaetus" snake-eagles in the subfamily "Circaetinae".
