Drinker Moth This was a very bright and neon colored caterpillar that was close to four inches in length! A very cool and new species for me! 1. Beautifully captured and an interesting new species to JungleDragon, compliments! Also an interesting species name, so added to this list:

    1. Thanks! Took a while to actually figure out which butterfly or moth this belonged to. Posted 11 years ago
      1. I can imagine. Species identification kind of is our community sport over here. It can be both frustrating and fun, but we're doing ok with 88% of all photos having a species identified :)

          1. We do try, now you know why some of us insist on species-relevant info in many comments below photos :) It may sometimes come across as invasive, but the end goal has several benefits:

            - A photo with next to it a species identified (along with similar photos, maps, textual info, and more of that same species) turns a photo into a far more educational object.

            - It allows for our wildlife browser to work: http://www.jungledragon.com/wildlife/browse

            - It even changes people. Many of us just started photographing nature, without much knowledge of species. If you regularly share on JungleDragon where people keep asking you about species, over time you become species-aware. You know what you're shooting, or you start to collect "species". When this effect takes place, one is truly converted, you are then referred to as a "JungleDragon" :)
