Curiosity Possibly the longest photography project I've ever attempted. I managed to track multiple sets of fox prints back to a den during the winter, and spent months waiting for something to show. Unfortunately the den flooded after a period of nonstop rain we had, and I assumed that family had moved out. Finally got a glimpse of a grey fox around two weeks ago trying to re-dig a new den in the same location, and then saw one again during the following week. Managed to get this shot of a red fox by smearing myself in mud/dirt/deer scat, curling up into a little ball, and then making rabbit distress calls in the general area of the den. 1. A case of true wildlife photography with the effort to match it. I remember as a child occasionally spotting red foxes in local forests but now they seem to be gone entirely. Thank you for sharing this story, let's make it shine on the homepage. Posted 11 years ago
  2. Fantastic, its always great to hear the story behind the shot. Many people don't appreciate the lengths some photographers go to to get 'that shot' and it seems you certainly went that extra mile. Well done, beautiful photo, worth the effort! Posted 11 years ago

The red fox is the largest of the true foxes, as well as being the most geographically spread member of the Carnivora, being distributed across the entire northern hemisphere from the Arctic Circle to North Africa, Central America and the steppes of Asia.
