Brave World
One day I was out in my backyard and I heard the loudest high-pitched squeak. I realized it was coming from the gutter pipe above. A closer look revealed it was coming from a chipmunk IN the pipe. I realized this was a golden opportunity and rushed back inside to get my camera. Luckily, he was still there when I returned, the only problem was I didn't want to scare him off in the opposite direction. So, I brought out a lawn chair and pulled it up as close as I could to the pipe. Naturally, he ran back up the pipe so I waited for him to poke his head out and took some pictures. Then, I'd move a little bit closer. He'd run back up the gutter and squeak and hide, but I'd wait, take a picture when allowed, then move up again. I repeated this process several times before I got close enough. They really are amusing creatures.

The eastern chipmunk is a chipmunk species found in eastern North America. It is the sole living member of the chipmunk subgenus "Tamias", sometimes recognised as a separate genus. Its name comes from the Odawa word "ajidamoonh" or the Ojibwe word "ajidamoo", which translates literally as "one who descends trees headlong."
