The Galápagos Lava Lizard is one of nine species of lava lizard endemic to the Galápagos Islands found on the following islands: Isabela, Fernandina, Cuatro Hermanos, and Tortuga. The species is commonly attributed to the genus ''Microlophus'' but has been attributed to the genus ''Tropidurus''.
