
Longhorn Moth (female) on leaf, Heeswijk, the Netherlands
This is one of few local insects that I continue to find fascinating. These night moths (that are also active by day) not only have a striking pattern, they are best known for their males: they have enormous antennae that stretch up to 5 times their body length. This one is a female, but I have plenty of male shots to show later. In fact, I find males all the time, this is the first time I actually saw a female.

The longhorn moth is a diurnal lepidopteran from the moths family Adelidae . The wingspan of the moth ranges from 16–23 millimetres.
