    1. I think it does, I used the same guide as for the other photo, but am unable to match it so far. The problem is in the folded wings of this one, which I do not see on any other robber fly in the guide. Plus the angle isn't really good for identification. Posted 11 years ago

"Empis tessellata" is a large species of dance fly, in the fly family Empididae. In the United Kingdom, Adults can be seen from April to August, particularly on the folwers of umbellifers.
